The great commission is to go into the whole world and preach the gospel. The challenge of the apostle Peter is always: be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that we have. Thus we seek to support those who 'go into the world' and to build up the local congregation to be local 'missionaries' to the parish. Beyond our own parish we support both UK and overseas missions: |
Mark and Cheryl Gibson are in Burkina Faso working among the Fulani tribes people. They have now been based in Djibo since 2002 to learn the Fulfulde language of the Fulani and getting more familiar with the Fulani culture. As well as language learning, Cheryl has got to grips with home schooling, first Joshua and now Amelia as well. Mark's language has now got to the stage where he can preach a sermon in Fulfulde, though it still takes quite a lot of preparation! We pray for them regularly, send them financial support monthly.
We were very fortunate to have had a visit from the Gibsons family on 4 June 2006, and we have just received details of their new website: http://www.grassmatsandbaobabs.org.uk/ . |

Christian Comunity Ministries (CCM) have a small orphanage in Romania which they are currently expanding. The old premises are being replaced by a new building on the same site and, when completed, the old premises will be used for sheltered accommodation for the elderly. CCM is based in Barnton, Cheshire. |
The Church of England Childrens Society works among the most under-privileged children and young people in the UK to 'help them deal with life's harshest challenges and face the future with confidence'. |
The Samaritan's Purse and Operation Christmas Child is something we co-ordinate in the parish. Church folks and villagers alike prepare a shoebox of gifts for a child, which is then collected by the Samaritan’s Purse organisation and shipped to Eastern Europe where those with very little are given a Christmas present (perhaps for the first time).

Our Junior Church children support a poor family in the town of Turda in Romania. Mum, Grandma and six children make up the family. This support is also carried out with the help of the international aid organisation, Samaritan's Purse. Contact with the family is by the exchange of letters. The children of our Junior Church are excited about being able to help this family. We are also now sponsoring a new family in Romania - they are the Parumb family: Father, Mother, three sons and three daughters. This is a great challenge for us all, and we at Junior Church are ready to meet it. We shall continue to pray for the Pop family who are now progressing well.
