Privacy Statement

The Church of St Stephen the Martyr, Moulton (subsequently abbreviated to “St Stephen’s”) is committed to protecting the privacy of all visitors to its website.

What information does St Stephen’s collect from me when I visit this website?

We collect very little information about visitors to our website. If you send us an Email, you will divulge an Email address to us by default (unless you take specific steps to hide your identity using anonymizer software). Similarly, the use of the form on the Questions page will reveal your Email address to us, but we will NOT make use of this unless you include it specifically on the form.

Also, in common with ALL hosted web sites, every time you view a web page this will be recorded in web server logs which show your IP address (the number which your machine uses when it is connected to the Internet) or the IP address of any proxy you use. In addition we may record other information your browser passes to us - including what pages you looked at, whether or not the page request was successful, and which browser and operating system you used to view the pages.

What can we do with this log information?

We will use these data for statistical purposes only. This tells us those areas of the site which are of particular interest to you, so that we can identify those to which we need to pay special attention. It also informs us of any pages being requested that no longer exist (“broken links”), and also how many hits and individual page requests we get.

Who does St Stephen’s share the access log information with?

We will not share any of the information collected from your accesses to our site with anyone outside our church.

What about cookies?

A cookie is a small amount of data, sent to your browser by the web server, stored on your computer and then sent back when you subsequently view pages on that server. They are usually used, by commercial web sites in particular, to remember your identity and what interests you.

Our web site does NOT make any use whatever of cookies – we do not send any information to your computer, other than Emails which you have specifically requested.

What if I click on an external link?

All third party links on our website relate to information and services web sites used by St Stephen’s. Clicking on any further links on these web sites is entirely at the visitor’s own risk.

What about security of any personal data that I do submit?

All data that are collected from the site, such as website access logs and Email addresses, are stored in a manner which restricts unauthorised access, or improper or unlawful use.

Whom can I contact about this privacy statement?

Any questions about this privacy policy should be sent via email to the webmaster or the vicar.

Whom can I contact for further information about Data Protection in general?

Any questions about Data Protection may be addressed to the Information Commissioner's Office.
