Groups & Activities for Younger Members

In recent years there has been a real growth in our children’s work. Some of this has been growth from among the existing membership, some has been due to folks coming to faith, perhaps due to contact with the church over their child’s baptism. On Sundays the crèche is available for babies and toddler (under the age of 3) where parents can still participate in the service, while their children are able to play or draw, or crawl around.

The Junior Church groups that take place at the same time as morning service are :

Pebbles: 3 and 4 year olds (pre-school)

Stones: Reception and school years 1-2

Rocks: School years 3,4 & 5

Boulders: School years 6, 7 & 8

Each age group engages with the same Bible passage as the adults, so that families can talk together about what they have learned at church that morning. They will use craft, games, and other activities appropriate to their age to illustrate and support the teaching of the Bible each week.

Little Gems

The titles of the groups reflect the truth revealed in 1 Peter 2 - that we are all living stones, being built together into a spiritual house.

Once a month we hold a mid-week pre-school service which involves craft, stories, games, songs and story. We meet the second Wednesday of the month at 1.30pm, and finish in time for older children to be collected from school. In line with the 'Living Stones' theme we call this service 'Little Gems' (opposite).

For teenagers we have a weekly meeting on a Sunday evening called 'New Vision'.
